Sharing Your Health Data
What Is API Access and Why It Matters
NorthCare Network wants to make it easy and safe for you to see your health information. We follow rules from Medicare and Medicaid to make sure your data is shared the right way. We use special tools called APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to help you and trusted apps get your health data securely.
Your Health Data and Privacy
How HIPAA Protects You
HIPAA is a law that keeps your health information private and safe. It makes sure only people you allow can see your data. Here are your rights:
- See Your Records: You can ask to see or get copies of your health records.

- Read the app’s privacy policy.
- Make sure you understand how your data will be used.
- Choose apps that protect your information.

- Know What Data Is Collected: Some apps ask for more than just health info—like your location or contacts.
- See Where Data Is Stored: Find out if your data is stored safely and in the U.S.
- Watch for Data Sharing: Some apps share or sell your info. Look for apps that let you opt out.
- Limit What You Share: Good apps let you choose what data to share.
- Look for Security: Apps should use encryption and other safety tools.
- Know How to Get Help: The app should have a way to report problems.
- Stop Access When Needed: You should be able to stop the app from using your data and delete it if you want.
